Besides the stats - I think the real point is people look to justify violence against ANYONE, instead facing it for what it is. WRONG! SIN! IMMORAL! ILLEGAL!
They divert the conversation to other areas so they don't have to deal with it. This happens to all victims of abuse. Gender to me isn't an the real issue. Men, Women, Children all have different comments made to them to mininize their experiences. That is one huge factor we all have in common.
Unless that is stopped...stats don't mean squat! The real head way towards any progress is when people stop making excuses for other's behavior. DEAL with the abusive person with the debits they have, instead of giving the green light to continue.
Personally, I think the whole thing is sad. Men, Women and Children all have to fight the ignorance, stereotypes, myths, etc before anyone takes them serious. People don't look at the damage that has been caused during that battle that could have been avoided if they would have just listened with a true heart.
