Constantly shifting between the 'authority of the bible' and 'having the correct spirit to read the bible' makes it impossible for the religious to ever confront their real nature.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948559.post-33307197762696325212010-08-16T07:25:19.685-05:002010-08-16T07:25:19.685-05:00Great blog post. For a preacher to have the bible open and them raise his voice at you out of anger, impatience, and lack of self control (which are contray to the fruits of the spirit galatians 5:22) and then lie about how they have not been told about their attitude in years.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948559.post-2584928644634205522009-12-23T17:38:58.805-06:002009-12-23T17:38:58.805-06:00I agree it is a taboo subject. Churches won't discuss spiritual abuse and the secular world can't understand it. These victims are left to suffer alone. Only exposure to public view of what it is and what it does to people will curb it. Thanks for this site. These stories are heartwrenching, but can serve to help others.Provenderhttp://pureprovender.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948559.post-72577211530096927162009-12-22T08:38:23.339-06:002009-12-22T08:38:23.339-06:00That's awful Michelle. Of course, they twist it so you believe you were called by God. Single Mom, chronically ill son. Yes, God healed my son but not because of this ministry. They isolated my son from me. They ignored me most of the time. They see me as a threat. When my son finally opened his eyes he also saw it. We moved into an apartment that is infested with mold and mice. They see that as just part of suffering for Jesus. I gave SO much money to their ministry. We lost everything including our health and are moving to live with my former Mother-in-law in Missouri. We don't know who to trust anymore but God. We know it isn't God Who did this.Michellenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948559.post-48195529703189171992009-10-25T09:49:26.298-05:002009-10-25T09:49:26.298-05:00I'm glad you are no longer there as well.

I don't understand the extra rules as you put it to isolate people, and at times the shamed filled statements to make you hush when you ask questions. They call it love, but it truly ends up being something totally different. I see that alot. They label their actions in a way so they can be right, and blame you if you can't see things the way they do.

Thank you for stopping by!Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15165967476661656865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948559.post-75893510187659204102009-10-18T22:24:06.352-05:002009-10-18T22:24:06.352-05:00I wish I could tell all the world how sad it was t...I wish I could tell all the world how sad it was to grow up in public school, dressing differently, unable to go to any after school functions, being forbidden to play sports and music (both of which I loved dearly) and forbidden any form of assistance with education after high school. I finally graduated from college as an adult but I never have had the confidence to achieve many of the aspirations that I have always had. I am sure I was the source of ridicule in high school and I was respected only minimally because I was a good student. How can parents do this to their children? Adherence to a faulty set of religious rules dominated rather than true love for their children. These situations were exacerbated by the fact that my mother resented my birth--I was the youngest of eight. I am proud to have come a long way in life but I cannot reinvent a happy childhood or a loving mother and first family. I will probably never have the full confidence to truly believe in myself because of their restrictive, punitive religious cult. Sad, but glad I'm not there anymore!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948559.post-74580975211682349002009-09-25T07:52:03.029-05:002009-09-25T07:52:03.029-05:00Yes God created Marriage. Steal their money right before their eyes and the congregation approves. It's sad. I pray daily for Gods's wisdom. People will take their food money, mortgage payments and give it away because someone has misquoted the Bible. This is a terrible way to treat people.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
