The sin was gang rape- roving gangs of violent maurauaders looking to violate people, torture and murder them! It was not about hospitality and it was not about the gender of the people being raped, tortured and murdered! Hello! Take off your fundie blinders and read it again.

The law: well, again, Jesus (contrary to fundie doctrine) did not keep the law in every aspect: he let prostitutes and bleeding women touch him, he touched lepers, he ate on the Sabbath, he healed on the Sabbath, he declared the adulteress women forgiven, he hung out with Gentiles and 'sinners'. That is a lot of law-breaking for someone who supposedly was the human embodiment of the Logos.

Now I believe Jesus IS the human embodiment of the Logos- I just don't believe the OT is also logos. It is the written record of people who had real encounters with the supernatural god and how they interpreted that and lived their lives. Do I believe God gave Moses the ten commandments? Yes, because Moses came down with glory on his face. But I do not believe God dictated the est of the Law to him. I believe whoever wrote that portion of the OT believed it, but that doesn't make it so.

Jesus is the logos. Jesus was anti-violence; the OT advocates genocide. Jesus was pro-woman and pro-Gentile; the OT is very misogynistic and zenophobic in some passages, while honoring women and upholding foreigners as heros of the faith ( a two-fer in Ruth).

Romans chapter one is followed by Romasn chapter two where Paul says these things are not for us mere mortals to judge. Revelations declares that pimps (whoremongers) are going to be outside the holy city, not male prostitutes or fornicators as some translations reword the passage.

Dig deep, friends. And above all, look at Jesus. He is the logos of God, the whole counsel of God revealed. If you judge all doctrines through the life and words of Jesus, you will likely be changing your mind about a lot of things.

I have no vested interest in getting you to think for yourself. I'm not going to ask you for a tithe, or a political donation. Always look at who you are listening to, and remember Steve Taylor's timeless lyric "When the chicken squawks loudest, it's gonna lay a big EGG" Egg=zeroshadowspringhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15172112981244682382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948559.post-35076821730796115322011-07-06T09:39:42.515-05:002011-07-06T09:39:42.515-05:00I would hope no one would act as if they are perfe...I would hope no one would act as if they are perfect, and without blemish. Its not possible. We are human after all.

I guess it would different if people remembered they are sinners as well, and there are no different levels of 'hate' or 'sin' in general. We all tend to categorize this I think. Then we turn to use this as justification in our actions.

I think at times we spend way to much effort in what we are against, and not what we are for.

What we are for is the part that will attract those to follow our Lord, and the Holy Spirit once they dwell within them can do the work/job that many tend to want to do themselves. That is not to say we can't gentle try to teach, etc.

When it comes to circumstances among believers? Again we use our pet sins as to what we will truly confront, and what we will brush under the rug with our words and actions.

Today we tend to look like bullies in some areas due to our approaches, and like spineless cowards due to the same.

We tend to speak out against the sins of the world as a tool at times. We use that tool so we don't have to deal with our own.

They also are 'pacifying their souls until Judgment Day.' to me. Its no different. Its sad, and I'm sure makes the Lord mourn.Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15165967476661656865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948559.post-83379944916592983542011-07-03T10:27:27.378-05:002011-07-03T10:27:27.378-05:00Those who "fear homosexuality" never lov...Those who "fear homosexuality" never loved, or struggle to love one who lives that lifestyle. I have known, befriended, and loved lesbians, and gays - although I am on God's side concerning His Word concerning homosexuality. I have witnessed to them to no avail; however, I have done what I am supposed to do as a believer.

We must teach them what God says about their lifestyle in love, for they are going to lose their souls in the end. We can't change how God views this lifestyle, and I am not angry with God for condemning homosexuality. He made this world and all therein, so He alone has the right to say what is right and what is wrong.

It is incorrect to shine the spotlight on this lifestyle alone as the murderer of our homes - there are many more sins we can add to the list - domestic violence, abuse, alcoholism, sexual molestation and so on.

We are living in the Last Days according to the Bible. Could it be that many social ills are coming to light as never before - because Christians have been silent on all accounts? Could it be that God is giving His followers one last chance before He passes judgment to stand up, speak out, and snatch the perishing from eternal damnation?

In either case, we should not couple Bible truths with "hate." Nor should Christians act as though they have it all together, and their lives are without "spot or wrinkle." I accept my weaknesses as a Christian, and yet, I feel that I can - in love - point the way to the Cross for the redemption of another.

We should have the heart and mindset of, "Come, let us reason together." Not one of looking down our noses at those who live differently as we do - for such were some of us.

If "all inclusive" churches skip over the scriptures that speak against homosexuality, they are doing their parishioners a great disservice. They are pacifying their souls until Judgment Day.

New Living Translation (©2007)

"Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives." (Jude 1:23)

PeaceTerryhttp://ssofdv.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
